The work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh has influenced generations of architects and designers around the world. His innovative design, and the fact that his work was not always appreciated, has meant the race is on to ensure his buildings are preserved for future generations. Philip Long, chief executive of the National Trust for Scotland, describes the ground-breaking work underway to preserve Mackintosh’s domestic masterpiece The Hill House, as well as examining more broadly this Scottish genius of design.
