Culloden Battlefield

Culloden Battlefield is a meaningful place for people from all over the world, especially those who trace their ancestry back to the Jacobite Rising. Each year, more than 300,000 people visit the powerfully emotive Memorial Cairn and pay their respects to the 1,600 soldiers who died in the battle.

The battlefield and the view surrounding it are increasingly under threat from development, and we must work harder each day to protect Culloden’s powerful and authentic sense of place. NTSUSA proudly supports the National Trust for Scotland in this work from maintaining the historic landscape as it would have looked 275 years ago to educating visitors from around the world about this iconic site and its place in Scotland’s history.
